1927 mccormick deering head

I"m needing a head for my tractor. A friend has one for a good price but I have a question. My tractor didn"t have a head when I bought it. I have most everything else. When I was going thru my parts I noticed the valve cover had the holes(6) for the priming cups. My old Parts List shows the primimg cups close to the manifold. Is there a difference in the head with the priming cups going thru the valve cover than the head that doesn"t? Would it be asking a lot for the correct part number?

Neal,If were talking about a Farmall Regular the valve cover does have 6 holes.2 for the valve cover bolts,2 for oiling the rocker arms directly over the oil pans on top of the rocker arms and 2 holes for the priming cups that has 1/8 pipe threaded into the head,once you look at the head you will see.

You're exactly right Sam. I was on my way to see the only tractor like mine in the county when I realized that I hadn't mention what mine was. To clear that up it is a 15-30. The IH dealer here has two on their lot that happened to have a head like I was talking about. One doesn't a valve cover and I was able to get good pictures. But couldn't find the part number.

if your tractor is above 52271 you need 523dex. this has priming cups through valve cover. 523dbx has priming cups on the outside. they are for earlier tractors with round governor box. hope this helps. not sure if they will enterchange. Steve
