What are the chances Messicks will be able to get it?

Two examples:

1. Feed rolls for an IH 881 chopper. Local CaseIH dealer says NLA. Messick's website names a price and says they can get it in 3-5 days.

2. IH Plow Chief shins. Common opinion is that they're NLA. Messick's website was able to look up the part, give me a price, and tell me that they could get them in 3-5 days.

Yes, I know I should call them and ask, but I thought it might be fun to pontificate about it a while. Plus, there might be some serious answers.

So far Messick's has been able to deliver everything I've ordered off their website, and it's all been oddball stuff for 50-year-old equipment.

There are a couple of parts houses that specialize in obsolete IH parts. The buy NOS from dealers that close and remaining inventories from CaseIH when they decide it is no longer worth the warehouse space to house them. Messicks seems to have a good relationship with these places and I have had great success getting parts from Messicks that my local dealer claimed were NLA. I am guessing my local dealer could get me the parts too, but they don"t feel it is worth the effort. So, I would not be surprised if Messicks comes through with the parts you mentioned.

well i wanna play!!!! so i'd say if you called em with a credit card, you'd have all the parts in 9 working days!!! thats my guess and i'm sticking to it!!.

You have to bug your parts guy and make sure he checks everywhere, including other dealers inventory. Maybe 2 years ago my dealer found THE last HSKA/PC/SC extension at a dealership in Maine. I was stoked. Other than that, check depotparts.com, they buy up old dealer inventory. My dealer will actually look up parts at the parts depot for me also.
