It's putting up a fight!!!

Has anyone removed the Differential Ball Bearing Retainer from a Farmall A? I need to replace the oil seal.

This little piece does not want to come out – should I just force it?

Thanks!

They can be a bugger, and I'm not sure why, unless a worn bearing would make for some wear on them, around the fit to the tranny case.

On my BN, the one on the right side was snug but no problem to wobble/walk out, working my way around the ears on it. The one on the left, I've had three shots at and still haven't got it out. It's the only thing (other than a feww bolt on parts to paint) left on my punch list on the tractor. I gave up each time for fear of breaking it. I'll give it one more shot (same deal, it needs a new seal) when I go to put the wheel weights on. I hae some different prybars and what not to try on it. Abotu the best I can offer, I'm a afraid, is to tray and work your way around it gradually while trying not to chew up the shims too badly.
