A 1950 Gates belt catalog lists, in the "Tractors, Road Maintainers, Power Units and Other Machinery" section, an IH Model "S" with a Lyc CT engine...
No years are shown, but the Lyc should put it in the late 20"s-early 30"s period...
OE part # was 21771V; the then Gates # was 8503TR (the "TR" meant "dust-sealed tractor belt")...
None of my old parts catalogs shows any IH or McC-Drg "S"; does anyone have an idea what this was???
(I"ve registered on redpower but haven"t gotten OK to post).
Many thxx for any comments/advice. Bud

IHC has never built a Model S tractor. Some IHC trucks of that era used a Lycoming engine. I don't know if there was a Model S truck or not.

Many thxx for reply---yes, IH had a raft of S-model trucks, some of which used Lyc"s, including the CT.
As I don"t have a comprehensive list of IH models, I wondered if it might be some oddball or low production piece of eqpmt, but just looks like a catalog printing error (not unusual in these old parts catalogs).

Many S series trucks were built between1921 and 29.SF,SD,SL,S-24,SF46,SL36.The 4 and the 6 as the last digets in model no. indicate no. of cyls. in Lycoming eng.First no. indicates no. of gear speeds.Interestingly an S series truck wnt across Africa in 1927 including the Sahara a distance of 6,618 miles in 16 days.
