Farmall 240 info needed

I haven't been able to find much info about the 240. I'm looking for HP, and weight. I've found they're from the late 50's, and not much else. Was FH standard issue by then? Any info is appreciated.

They were made from 58-62 and carried the C-123 engine. The 240 has around 28 or so horse off the PTO. The weight is 3,800 dry, but if you have weights, loaded tires, a loader etc etc... then you can get them closer to 5,500lbs +. Fast hitch was standard equpiment on them as well.

I always thought the fast hitch was an option. Our 240U didn"t have one until we installed one (ex TX highway dept tractor).

I have a piece of literature some where that said the Farmall 240 came equipped with the fast hitch. Now the International 240 a utility version may have been optional I don’t have anything on that tractor unfortunately.

I have a 59' IH utility and it came w/ a fast hitch, wide front end,Hydro-touch, the whole shebang...and its very close to 5200# :D

Dave, give a hollar to Mark Peters, believe that is also his posting name on this site. Up near Green Bay area and has one, also implements (had nice display at "09 RPRU). He can give you the skinny on them. Good luck in your possible purchase.

My Uncle's 240 row crop had a factory 3-point hitch. It was a bas*** arrangement that looked much like the conversion for the Fast Hitch. The planter drivers on the brake housing extension was the same as for the SC, but longer control rods were needed to reach from the front cultivator rocker arm. I did not like the 240 front hydraulics because depth control was not as accurate as the SC or 200 touch control. Gage wheels on the front would have been a plus with the 240.

How did you come out? I just recently purchased a 240 utility industrial with an endloader & backhoe. this is all original equipment. Mine has no internal hydraulics except for power steering. This means no lift arms or controls, no hydraulics on the right next to the steering wheel, and no PTO!.

My loader and hoe are driven by an external pump out front driven off the crankshaft.

When the loader and how are off it's just a very simple little tractor.

BTW. I'm looking for some parts. Primarily a radiator.
