What size tires should be on a restored 1953 SH? also what is the ground speed per gear ? Or refer me to a website for such info.
Thanks
Wes

11-38 is one size on the tires (options were available)
This is the correct place (you will like it)
I don't have the gear speeds, but others will chime in. It is also in the archives. Welcome. Jim

I would say the 12.4 38 was quite popular on them also. I have a pair on my M that came off a super H . They would look better on my H but then I can't sneak the M in the barn if I switch the 13.6 off the H. Might do it anyway if a nicer set shows up.

The other answers are both correct. The original 1950's standard size was 11-38. Today, that same size is designated a 12.4-38.
1st gear: 2-5/8mph
2nd gear: 3-3/4mph
3rd gear: 5mph
4th gear: 6-5/8mph
5th gear: 16-1/4mph
Rev gear: 3-1/4mph

Advertised speeds were 2-5/8, 3-3/4, 5, 6-2/3, 16-1/4, reverse 3-1/4 MPH. Some places advertised a speed of 6-5/8 for 4 th gear.
