Farmall cub clutch parts- imports?

Have got a '48 cub apart for clutch repair. Throwout bearing worn badly, pressure plate not too bad, disc worn. Ordered an aftermarket "NEW" clutch kit, received it and was less than thrilled to see it was chinese made. Looks cheesey. OK, so was thinking maybe get some fingers and springs for the original pressure plate, if available, and a reman IH disc and throwout from someone? Have heard that some dealer parts may be imports as well. Any advice or reliable parts sources? Seems to me extra money spent on good parts is less grief in the long run. Thanks Geoff

geoff, TM Tractor is the best place for all your cub parts. However they are moving there warehouse and I don't think they are open at this time. I would use your clutch with new disc. and TOB If you need good used parts check with Ralph's cubs. If you go to Farmallcub.com there is alot of info about the aftermarket clutchs. oldiron29

Unles you work your cub wya more than most people do, I would suggest sending the kit back and getting a good used clutch and disk form ralphscubs.com or jptractorsalvage.com and a new TO bearing from your Case/Ih dealer. The ones form the dealer are prelubricated, meaning they have oil forced into the graphite under pressure at the factory. Aftermarket one are dry and do not get lubed until grease has been in them long enough for the oil to separate form the wax and soak into the graphite from the rear. I learned what that causes the hard way. I went through 2 aftermarket ones in about 4 months, until I ordered one form my IH dealer.

I don't know about the Cub, but HiCapacity rebuilds clutches that will be as good as new. Several sources for these, one being Steel Wheel Ranch in NE Kansas -- 785-548-7437.

Thanks for sharing your info, appreciate it very much. The kit is going back in the box, not in the tractor. I'll mix and match new and reman as suggested so hopefully it only has to be done once, otherwise I might as well leave some of the bolts out so it comes apart faster the second time. The idea is to fix it, not create problems. Thanks.

Call Carolina Clutch at 1-800-374-2212. They can probably reline your clutch disc like new & rebuild your pressure plate if it needs it.

When I did a Farmall A a brake shop in Baltimore
relined my clutch disc. Hal
