Hello I just bought a 340 Farmall Utility and would like to know what type of loaders would work. I have a shop can weld and cut. I found a 2001 type would that work on the 340. O r what ones will don"t need to be IH Thank you, Brian

I"m fitting an IH 1701 loader onto my 340U. It needed 1 inch shims on both sides to fit the rear attachment point, and a couple 3/4 inch thick plates to accomodate the front bolster. Made mockups out of 3/4 plywood first to get the right layout.

I HAD a wagner loader that was mounted on my 340 utility built specifically for those tractors. After using it a few years I took it off and completeky rebuilt my front end, expensive. Needless to say it did not go back on but sold it for $400. It did work well but caution must be taken not to overload it. It can be torture on your front end even with power steering.Heavy, heavy loader as the tubing was the oil reservoir.

Not only is it hard on the front end, that little 135 engine needs a couple of side pieces and the tractor has no frame rails. I have seen them busted right at the bell housing and the front of the engine both. Just not a lot of meat in that engine casting.
