sickel bar knife grinder on BN tractor

My Grandfather purchased a BN with mounted mower in about 1939. It came. with a grinder to sharpen knife blades on sickle bar mounted behind seat which was belt driven by side pto .It is a IH product and has several IH stamps on it. I have not seem any other grinders like it before. How rare is it? thank you for your information.

Not sure about that. Might it have been just a stone with a center to mount to the pulley shaft?

Yes, they did make such a sharpener and somewhere I have some more info on same. The only problem is I will not be where my stuff is until after Memorial Day.

I think they were mostly put on the International As with the highway mowers. The sharpeners were probably pretty common on them.
