540 PTO shaft Needed for 1486 IH

Any one know where I can get a 540 PTO shaft for a 1486 IH,, The one on the tractor broke.

How hard are the shafts to replace??

Here is a link so some salvage yards. This is a couple of years old but it will give a couple to call. Hopefully I did it right.

The entire PTO assembly has to be removed from the tractor. To replace the shaft the entire assembly has to come apart. Without special tool the hardest part willbe to remove and install the clutch pack return spring.
 
OK,, But it can be done with basic tools or by the average mechanic? What kind of time am I looking at , if all goes right?

My advise is to take it off the back of the tractor and take it to your local dealer or a good local tractor mechanic.That clutch return spring is wicked,if something bad happen it could hurt you very bad.Taking off the pto unit is easy.Put a clean pan under pto take out all the long bolts around it.The two short bolts leave in,but there is a short bolt in the lower left (bolt is hard to see) corner remove it the pto should come off.
