Super A pto hp rating

Im considering buying a used pto powered generator. looking at the manual it recomends 69 hp to run it, the manual says "power needed 69 hp". im assuming that means 69 hp at the pto shaft, not at the engine flywheel, right? at any rate, i would like to know what the super a engine and also pto is rated at. i think its a c113, i know its the one without water pump. can anybody answer this, and also any recomendations on a pto powered generator?

You buy that generator and you will be looking for a bigger tractor. Well that depends it might run the generator but you might not be able to turn on to many things. The generator runs easy with out a load on it. If you want to buy it try it first. If the tractor cant keep 540 rpm it wont put out enough voltage and you can burn out some of the appliances in the house. You have to keep 540 rpm. Good luck Erik.

The dyno is a PTO dyno, so that's 22HP at the PTO.

69HP is the requirement to run the generator at full capacity. It must be a pretty large generator, around 35KW continuous.

Your Super A will run the big generator at a REDUCED capacity. Winco's 11KW generator has a 22HP requirement, so I'd imagine you could run 9-10KW worth on the bigger generator, because it takes more power just to turn.

If the big generator is a good deal, it's worth a chance. Otherwise, pass on it and look for something smaller.

That is at pto. It takes approximatly 2 HP for every 1000 wats of generator outprt. As mkirsch said you can run a bigger generator but not at max output.

Doesent realy make a diff as some dynos do run off the pulley but most run from the pto. Depending on the gen your SA would run a 9KW gen ok.

I purchased a 6,000 watt continuous and 10,000 surge (or whatever) PTO generator from my aunt a couple years ago. Along with the Farmall Super H to run it. She said they could not run it on one of their H's and keep everything going but the Super H ran it fine. I have not tested it yet, but that size generator is a bit light run everything at the same time in my house.

You will not get much use of all the capacity of your generator with a Super A. You have a nice sized generator that should run a lot---with a tractor with enough HP to run it.
