im tearing down and restoring an old mcormich deering, im thinking its a 15 30 but not sure i cant read the tag by the shifter is there any other way of telling the year, and also is there a place that i can get parts such as gaskests seals ect. any help would be great thank you

There should be a casting date code on the bottom side of the tractor transmission housing. If I remember right the actual 2 digit year code is used instead of the letter code.

One thing you can also do is measure the engine bore on the lower sleeve area through the inspection cover on the side of the block. 10-20 are 4.25 bore, 15-30 are 4.5 bore, and 22-36 are 4.75 bore.

Some of the tractors are stamped 15-30 but have the larger sleeves and pistons installed. May be do to overhauled or old tax laws.

You can try Rice Equipment in PA at 814-227-9200
or thefordsonhouse at 906-786-5120. If it's a 15-30 weberstractorworks has a new sleeve/piston kit at 815-389-1493. Hal

IH never used 22-36 as a model name. The tractor was either the [u:654c4848f0]15-30[/u:654c4848f0] or the [u:654c4848f0]15-30, 22-36 horse power[/u:654c4848f0].

if the tag is in front of the shifter it is probably a w-30.

There are some other external things you can look for.
The 10-20 had 42" steel wheels, the 15-30 52".
The steering shaft on the 10-20 is open almost all the way down to the throttle/spark levers. On the 15-30, the shaft is enclosed almost up to the wheel. The 15-30 has an extra strap over the gas tank, about 1/4 way back from the front. The pulley on the 10-20 is 15-1/4" x 7" and the 15-30 pulley is 16-3/4" x 9". There is also a difference in the appearance of the steering box, which I can recognize but can't really describe--don't have any pictures of it here. Most of what I wrote above came from an IHC tractor brochure from the early 30s, and I took the specs from a specs page. Hope it is helpful.
