FFA chapter restoring and Farmall H, and looking for some tips or leads.

We are in need of a way to straighten front grill, best way to break down tractor(Clean and prime or paint then resemble). We are in need of Decals, Wiring Harness, Qaulity Paint, and anything we should do to have the be final product possible.

It is a great running tractor that smokes, so will overhaul it, new clutch, all new seals, try to tighten up steering if possible, straighten all tin and make it like new again.
Has fenders, weights, all lights and will be sporting new tires as well.

Thanks

We will raffle it off once complete, so any help would be great.

I saw a great grill tool on sleebay yesterday that was very cool and am in the process of buying one for my M. And its fairly inexpensive(around 40$). As far as splitting the Beast,go in the search mode for this site and prepare to take notes!!! :p

My dad just finished restoring an H. It has a shine that would put them all to shame. First thing is steam clean the living day lights out of it, then steam it some more and yet some more. We stripped every part off the H and painted it but I have seen some really great paint jobs where the person took off only the wheels, gas tank and sheet metal and it looked great when they were finished. As far as a grill goes my brother in law owns a body shop and he spent 8 hrs straightening it and it looked perfect before he started. We used valspar primer from farm and fleet. its the pro line of primer, and 2150 CIH paint with hardener and clearcoat over that. Dont use martin senour paint from napa, its just a bunch of crap, your tractor will look good for two years then rapidly fade.

Tell you what, I am sure we can hook you up with a couple tickets for a chance to win it for your generousity. Let me know what your address is and we will pay for shipping there and back.

Where near Dubuque? I am in Dewitt and can lend a hand or an ear if needed. I have been restoring these things for years.

Epworth, at West Dubuque. We have the front end off cleaning sandblasting and then will prime and reassemeble the front end and slowly move back. Engine is next tires are ordered, just looking for the detail stuff, wiring, gages, top to the battery box, need to run to franzens for a draw bar and steering post. They are a ton of help as well.

A full and complete restoration will require original style gauges, but be prepared to spend a LOT of money. In my opinion, those original style, replacement gauges are WAY overpriced. Also, there is some company out there that is making what appears to be original style gauges, and those are priced much lower, but they are NOT a very good reproduction.

I've got a whole center section of an H from crank pulley to rear housing, has a post & draw bar on it. I'm just west of Oelwein. $50. would buy it all, plus all the advice you would like as I did one a couple years ago.

If it's not to late, one of the tire mfg's offered tires for FFA at a very low cost or free I believe. Anyone else know for sure?
