F20 Head bolt torque

What are the head bolts to be torqued to on a 37 F20? Also, what order are they to be tightened? I have an original owners manual that tells you to just torque them by hand evenly. I like to be more precise than that. Thanks, Jeff

I also use 90 foot-pounds starting at the center and spirling out.

I torgue all at 70 foot-pounds starting at the center. Then 80 foot-pounds and then the same sequence for 90.

Go in steps like 20,40,60,80, then 90 and work from the center out and from side to side for each step or the head gasket will be damaged.

I had trouble with anti-freeze weeping a tiny bit after getting it up to running temp.I had torqued to 90 ft.lbs.Next day motor cooled off, I re-torqued head to 90 ft. lbs. and then re-set valve lash, also re-torqued nuts on manifold.I had to remove rocker shafts, rockers to get wrench and socket on all the cyl. head nuts.I wouldn"t even bother putting valve cover back on till you run it and then re-torque,set valves. You will have best results setting valves while motor is hot.You can do it while its running but kind of a pain in the a--.This might sound like a lot of monkeyin" around but its really not that bad.

After you got the head torqued and valves set, run engine up to operating temp. and then retorque with engine hot and reset valves.

I torque my F20s at 80 lbs. with no problems. BTW,
what type head gasket are you using? There is a new type (not metal clad) that works a lot better. No weeps, no leaks.
