my uncle had a early 50s md that had two mufflers out the top. could a person still find a duel exhaust manifold.

Your uncle or someother one made that dual exhaust. No factory or aftermarket manifold like that. Would be pretty intresting if they did though.

About 4 or 5 months ago there was a person (look in the Archives) who decided to fabricate one for a gas M. Interesting look to it when finished. (one on each side rather than one ahead of the other.) JimN

ON OUR 49 MD WE HAD SINCE NEW THE IH DEALER IN THE MID FIFTYS JUST ADDED A MUFFLER ON TOP OF THE MUFFLER ALREADY ON THE TRACTOR THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO HELP HEADS NOT TO CRACK

A rain cap would be more practical. The real issue is a 3 to 5 minute cool down after work, and a five+ minute warmup prior to work. Jim
