Suntech water temp guage

The wire on the old A"s temp guage finally broke and I had a water temp guage I had bought for an old truck on the shelf so I put it on rolled up the extra behind the governer rod and it will not read. Never moves off 100 degrees. anyone ever had this problem? Guess I will order a replacement IH guage next week.

Either the engine is not warming up or the gauge is bad. It's not uncommon to see some excess capillary tube coiled up out of the way and doing that SHOULDN'T affect the gauge reading.

If it is a mechanical gauge. (Bulb and capillary tube) take the bulb out of the tractor block, and submerge it in a pan/can of water. Heat the water to boiling to test the gauge. Many Farmalls without a thermostat will not heat up. With a thermostat they just get a little above the cold mark. JimN

It is a 1940 and I never put a water pump on it. The old guage never moved much even when she was good and hot. I am going to try the boiling water Monday thanks.
