farmall cub stalling problem

I have a farmall cub,1957 which up to now has ran great. However,it starts ok,runs fine cleaning snow for awhile and then just stalls. After waiting a few minutes it will start again if the choke is closed and reopened and work great for awhile again. It almost seems that it is either getting too much gas and stalling or simply running out of gas.I have cleaned the glass bowl for debris and water and have added some dry gas into the system.Does anyone have any ideas

Sounds like fuel to me too. Check the screen filter in the sediment bowl. Sometimes they get plugged. My SM had a similar problem. It was just junk and rust in the tank. Rust and dirt would settle out, and plug the inlet to the sediment bowl. Runs great, then sputters and dies, choke it and you can limp it around a bit....same same. Might have to clean your tank. Temp fix, but you can shoot some air back into the fuel line and try to knock some of the sediment loose. Worked on my SM for a while, finally had to pull the tank. Check your lines too. I would unhook your line at the carb and hold a can under the line. Crack open your sediment valve, and see how fast the fuel stream is. Should be about pencil thin and constant. Shawn

Three potential issues, There is a screen at the fitting where the fuel line attaches to the carb. The second is the Tube into the tank from the sediment bowl. These can become blocked with scale and reduce flow. The third is a plugged cap vent. Which prevents air from getting int the tank to replace used fuel. Good luck, let us know. JimN

Good point about the cap. I've sealed them tight with paint, and they won't vent. When it starts stalling, take off the cap to test/eliminate that. If it runs normal, prolly your cap.
