New Battery Box (SH) - Big Fight

Howdy, boys:
I decided to install a new oem battery box on the stage 2 SH. What a fight! It didn't exactly fit quite like I anticipated. After enlarging holes with the next size drill, elongating some holes with a die grinder, rebending some mounting tabs, some whacks with a large rubber hammer and a few words mama would not be proud to hear, it now fits.
My advice: Don't buy a painted one. By the time you get it fitting right, it will need to be resprayed anyway.

I've heard others complain about the fit of some of their stuff. I don't know if it's the jigs or setup that throws all of a particular item off or just the occasional hole out of place. Most of what I've gotten from them has fit okay, but I have some vague recollection of having to stretch a hole on a PTO shield or something of that sort once.
 
The box I got from the-coDOTcom was a lot less expensive and I didn't have anywhere near the problems you had.
 
I bought a battery box for my SMTA from OEM about 3 years ago and experienced the same problems. I even had to cut off the 'L" shaped bracket on the right side of the box that is used to bolt the box to the platform & reweld it in the correct position :~(

I have bought some other items from OEM & have been less than impressed with them as well.
Have heard others complain as well. I don't know if the problem is if they set their jigs up wrong & made a bunch of items incorrectly and are still selling from that stock or if they just don't care enough to redo their jigs.
 
"Misery loves company", I guess. At least I find some degree of comfort in knowing I'm not the only one who had a struggle.

I seem to have problems with many aftermarket parts. I bought a battery box for my B at the local salvage yard and had to cut off the mounting tabs and rewelded them on in the correct location. I don't know where they get there templates for making this stuff, but I always say, it almost fits most of the time. Radiators are another problem. To me OEM seems no better or worse than others (Now OEM claim their battery boxes are made in USA, so don't know if they are any better than those made in China). Roger
