Just quit backfires

Started my super"A" it ran for about 30sec. than quit when I tryed to start it ,it sounded like one cyl. was trying to fire than once in a while it would backfire up until now it's been running great checked for water in gas , checked points.

check to make sure you have compression on all cylinders, make sure distributor hasn't jumped time, take out #1 spark plug turn engine over to top of compression stroke,(top dead center,TDC) check to make sure rotor is pointing toward #1 on distributor cap. try replacing the condenser. check for cracks in the distributor cap. check spark plugs. Start with the easy things first.

Also check to determine if there is dampness in the dist. Cap. That will sure make those symptoms. JimN
