H - Frozen Trottle

Folks,
anyone ever experienced a "frozen" trottle on an H? Plowed snow (central MN) for about three hours, parked her in the shed for the night. Everything working fine. Next morning, started her up but could not move the trottle at all. I did not force it, just idled her to the garage in 2nd gear.
I think it is moisture in the top of the governor that froze and is stopping the linkage to the carb.
Any ideas?

If it is in the gov. area if you let it run till good and warm it should free up on its own. If you have a tarp you can cover it with while you have it running that will help it thaw a lot faster

Either governor linkage, or throttle linkage. If the throttle lever is not moving, check all external connections from lever to the governor. If the throttle moves but does nothing to change the speed, it is internal icing. JimN

Thanks guys, kinda what I thought...last week had the trans freeze up..3 hours with the torpedo heater and drained the trans/diff gear lube later, with a new refill, she shifts like new. (well, as new as a 48 can shift)
I have a heat gun and thought I might put it on low and warm it up, but I need to remove the moisture so it don't happen again this winter. Need that plow to work...

Putting more hours on it, (and possibly covering the carb side with a piece of carpet to hold in some heat), and possibly an oil change to get some milky oil out will do it. Jim

Ouch. If there's that much water in the oil, you've got bigger problems.

Figure out where exactly in the works it's frozen. That means disconnecting some linkage. It may be as simple as the throttle handle itself or one of the pivots between there and the governor.

my h had the same thing in the winter -- i cured it by putting a pipe on the side of a coffee can the same size as the intake pipe put another hole in the bottom of the can so it will fit over the pipe of the mufler --take the top of the air cleaner off and connect it with some sort of hose (i used heater vent tube from napa)to the pipe on the can -- now you will have prewarmed air for the carb--never freeze again-- the only thing is you have to soulder the pipe on the can-- good luck!

I don't suppose you have a picture of your invention for me to follow? Sounds like a pre-heater of sorts and may work well to solve this. I suspect that moisture has made its way into the top portion of the governor, I do not believe the lower portion has (that is oiled) any water in it, but have not pulled apart to determine, nor do I want to...not into a lengthy project this time of year. But I may pull off the top to see whats happen'in in there..
The trottle moved before parking, next day, below freezing (well below) not movable. So. almost gotta be icing of some sort. Just not sure where in the fuel delivery control its frozen.
thanks..

I am willing to bet that it is frozen on the throttle lever. Did you try dumping hot water or using a heat gun on the throttle lever? Try that and see if that does the trick.
