1957 Lo Boy weights

Can someone save me a lot of trial and error, in the snow, with really heavy rear wheel weights, and tell me what the hardware requirements are? Looks like carriage bolts? Wondering what size?

In my experience both one piece and two piece rims have holes for the first set of weights. Use the largest bolts that will fit the holes. You will not need hardened bolts if you keep them tight.
I just paid $150 for a set of cub weights and they each weigh 150lbs.
300lbs on the rear of your cub will make a big difference EXCEPT on frozen ground. The only thing to help you there is chains. Been stuck many times trying to back out of a push on frozen ground.

I came out of the barn one day with the SuperC chained up. Frozen ground, just about a half-inch of ice on top of it. Just the slightest bit of a side slope in the yard, leading to the much steeper driveway.

The double ring chains' weren't doing a thing on that ice. Didn't rip the seat cushion, but the pucker factor was in the severe range. She got side slippin' fast enough that serious thought was given to firin' the ejection seat.

Book calls for 1/2" NC x 3" carriage bolts. Grade not specified for the bolts, but the nuts are listed as Grade 5. I concur that snubbed up Grade 5s with lock washers will hold them on just fine.

Just paid $100 for these, blasted and painted. Was out on Christmas Eve gathering some necessities and got wind of them. Drove out to pick them up before they disappeared and got stuck in traffic. Cost me the time I needed to make the family party victuals that night. If I had not stopped at the honey-baked ham company on the way home we would have had nuttin but pie for dinner and I would have been in the dog house. Anyhoo...the missing manual (I just located on the nightstand) sez 1/2 by 3 inch for the first set of weights and seeing as the holes is square I guess they mean carriage. I'll go with that unless someone has a better idea.

Just read that myself...um....brain freeze! What does "NC" stand for? Proof again that I am not afraid to sound stupid on a public forum!

Hey, I just figured it was better to store these darn weights on the tractor all winter rather than the trunk of the Fusion. MPG dropped 25% after I bought them. Just be grateful I didn't do anything controversial this time like intimate that MTA's weren't Super(or part of the alphabet for that matter)! Or mention that I just placed a classifed here looking for ALL sorts of parts for this '57 Loboy! Hmmm...and my e-mail is open too.

Keeps the PIA clients from expecting a reply to non-emergent e-mails during the holidays. I'll be a-pinging you directly but first I have to go rescue my youngest daughter. Seems the elder has her talked into a sled ride behind the 4 wheeler. Gone around so many time the yard looks like one big crop circle in the moonlight.
