Hi Guys; just installed the half tracks I've had for a while. Got to
field test tonite! Works great! Any one else use these tracks?
Bobmn I'll try to post a pic.

well let's see if this works!

Bob, they look similar to the full tracks used on Fergusson tractors by Sir Ed nnalert and driven to the South Pole in 1958.

I believe they used Fergusson TEA tractors (petrol engines).
And for the Farmall purists I apologise for mentioning Fergusson on this great board.

Dang Bob that looks pretty neat.

Big question, How well does it turn? Do you need to use the brakes or can it spin around with just the steering wheels.

I love this stuff! How do they keep the front set of wheels planted? There must be some means of loading them with some down force. Really nice looking tractor.

Very nice job. Looks GREAT!

Not to rip on you Bob, but in my experience, half-tracks require a minimum of 12,000# and 100 hp. to be effective in conditions requiring tracks.

I never did get the half-tracks on the 8N thing....

Glen,

I think you are referring to modern tracks. In their day, I think the M was about the biggest thing ever fitted with Arps half tracks. The over the tire Arps tracks are more for traction and flotation in poor condition like snow dozing and such and not for heavy tillage like modern tracks. Arps never were designed for 100 HP applications.

Hi Guys; Thanks for the nice replys! Howard has it right. We use
this Super C to pull logs, AFTER we pull them out to the road with
our 430 JD. (sorry!) It steers fairly well, but I do use the brakes to
help. Maybe I'll look for a set of frt wheel weights. It's a fun thing and there are some around Mn. The tracks
are somewhat the same, these are 20". It's the mounting brackets
that are different. I have one more set..... and we have a bunch of
old tractors, so we will have to pick one out! We have a 706 MM
with frt wheel drive........maybe TOO much horse power!! We are
going to do some filming later today. IF I can download it I will.

Nice! I have always been facinated by things with tracks. I have a Kid 8x8 I am restoring that I also have 3 sets of tracks for. They are full tracks that go over the tires.

Mine: Diesel (Perkins 4.108 diesel), Needs complete O/H.

Dads: Gas (Wisconsin V4), Restored in 1989.

I am flirting with putting the tracks on or at least trying a set. We do not get snow in Louisiana. Maybe 1"-2" every 10 years.

Got more pics?

Great! One more thing for me to lust after for one of my Super C's. Isn't one of the commandments, "Thou shall not covet thou's neighbor's tractors or the attachments for thou's neighbor's tractors." Well, see, you made me break that one....again!

Thanks for sharing.
