Problem with a lock-up of gears. With tractor in Neutral or in gear it is locked up. Cannot release the clutch, kills engine. With Torque Amplifier in the engaged position (level pulled back) can release clutch and put in gear and move forward or backwards. But with Amplifier in forward position it is completely locked up. You must keep clutch down or you kill the engine. Anybody got some ideas?
Thanks

If tractor will move normally with ta lever back, the over running clutch in ta is jammed locking carrier. Only saw this happen once in all my 40 plus years working on IH tractors. Take little four bolt cover off over ta and give carrier a wack in normal direction of rotation and you may ge able to use direct drive until you get a chance to repair the ta. If transmission was in two gears you would not be able to move at all.

This is the only answer that makes sense. It will likely need to be split to repair correctly. If the Ramp and rollers are disintegrating, it would be wise not to let those hardened metallic shrapnel get distributed through out the trans and TA. Jim

Your suggestion came the closest to what I was thinking. Took cove off, moved the ta lever into forward (disengaged) position, depressed the transmission clutch, and gave it a whack. It move with much difficulty but still is very much lodged. Is there any other access to this area other than the small plate on top? I believe I will find a bolt or something lodged between the housing and the ta flywheel. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to have the lever back otherwise the TA clutch will be engaged. That would mean that you would have the turn the engine with the TA assembly.
