I checked my H today and the amp meter does go to the left when I turned the lights on with the tractor off, not running, and pulling the ignition switch out shows it going to the left also. So should I switch the amp meter wires? J

why? its showing its pulling amps out of the batt by - or discharge, once its started and charging its adding the amps back by showing + or charge, all is fine.

Since it is a positive ground? It always shows - amps ... But I dont know, some on here yesterday said to check it like that. j

well if your saying it shows neg. when running then its not charging. not sure what your getting at.

As I posted yesterday, It isent chargeing. My ? does a positive ground make the amp meter show neg ampe, or would the needle be on the pos side?

ok , all is fine with the amp guage wires. pos. or neg.ground, if its Not charging it will show Neg. on the guage. the answer to your question is it will only show pos. if its charging. the ground dont care. thats assuming it was wired correctly to start with.you need to fix the gen. or reg.the wires arnt the problem.

I was a responder:
The system is OK as is for its ground and amp gauge action. It is just not charging at all. Do the Tests John T's analysis indicate, and the pre tests I suggested. JimN

if you had the battery diconnected you will need to ground the regulator to the generator to get it to charge be sure you do it correctly or you may ruin the regulator see your manual
