Hi All, my new bendix just came in for my farmallA. I was looking for either a point in the right direction (link etc) or some step by step instruction to replace the starter gear. photos would be great but dont want to ask too much. Thanks a lot!

I'm guessing that you've got one of the new clutch type drives. When I got mine it was 'how the heck does this go together?' But if you take the starter apart like you were replacing the drive, you will see how it goes back together with the new drive.

Without taking mine apart again, I can't give you a better description.

In general, mark both ends and the middle so you can get the drive end and the brush end back the way they were. Take the two long bolts out of the back and pull the drive end off. If you don't remove the back end you won't have to deal with getting the brushes over the armature when you put it back together.

Once you get the front end off the old drive will come off and the new one can go on. Put a little smear of grease on the shaft and the bushing in the nose.

You'll see when you take it apart.
