Low Ash oil...Is there a lower priced oil out there ?

Has anyone found a cheaper Low Ash 30W oil than IH"s ? The only one I have found is Mobil"s 505 Pegasus but not sure of the price.I would like to hear what everyone else is paying for IH"s Low Ash in their area...

Try the FARM OYL brand Lo-Ash oil. It is much more reasonably priced.

Just keep in mind , there is low ash and then there is LOW ASH. The IH version has no calcium, barium or magnesium so as not to leave these deposits behind on valve seats, piston crowns and spark plugs.

To get a good quality oil, you will have to pay. Cheaper oils are no bargain.

You could just use a synthetic all though not cheaper.

If I recall correctly Castrol GTX 10W30 was actually lower in sulfated ash than "IH" branded low ash oil. Most good engines oils out there are "low ash" but maybe not quite as low as the "Low Ash" IH brand. This site has a chart that shows the ash % on many well known brands. If I recall correctly IH "Low Ash" is .9%.

Then you have people that recommend diesel engine oil for gas engines which actually contain very high levels of sulfated ash (several times the level in "Low Ash" oil).
