Hydraulic valve repairing

Is it possible to rebuild the hydraulic valves on a Farmall 300? If so, does it require special tools, and what gaskets/Orings are needed, and where can I get them?
Thanks,
Tex

I am pretty sure they can be rebuilt. I have never done it, so I can't tell you how to do it. I have a copy of the Blue Ribbon Service Manual on the 300 & 400 series hydra touch. It explains how to disassemble, inspect and assemble the valves. I would suggest getting a copy of this manual, I got mine off ebay, there is one for sale there now.

My manual says there is a test fixture and a couple of other special tools required. I would say that any O-rings would be readily available. You could either buy them individually from the IH dealer, auto parts store, or save some $$ and buy a whole O-ring kit and use what you need out of it.

The only parts available are O-rings, gaskets, and the garter spring. The valve body and spool are a select fit and must be kept together as a set. O-rings should correct external oil leaks. If the problem is not holding a cylinder in place under load there is not much you can do to the valve to cure it. If your cylinder is not leaking that problem is almost always caused by excess internal leakage between the spool and the housing.
