I would like to put power steering on my 300 row crop.Which pumps will interchange onto my steering shaft, and still have clearance under my hood?Does the Behlen pump plumb into my hydraulic valve body or does it need it's own pump? How are the Char-lynn pumps installed? I've seen some with a belt driven pump off the motor.I don't want that type if I can plumb into my hydraulics. Thanks Brian

Best and easiest is to use a stock setup from either a 300F or 350F then all the pipe and valving will be perfect.
Many should be available in a salvage yard.
The term pump might be incorrect in your post. The steering is powered by the live pump and a priority/diverter valve. The device in the steering column is a torque motor.
Hydrostatic PS does have a manual pump in the steering column to make it turn, but there is no mechanical shaft to the front, and it was not used on 300/350 that I know of. JimN

By far the best way to have power steering on a 300 (or any tractor) is to install a dedicated pump to power the torque motor or have a pump with two preussure ports. I put a belt-driven on a '41 M that has a 1/2in. port for the main functions and a 3/8in. port for the power steering. Works good!! Give the power steering its own pump and you will NEVER REGRET IT. Using a diverting valve will always cause some problems And you will wish you had the dedicated pump!!! Do it right the first time and you will enjoy the ease of steering and you will never look back!!! Armand

I am using a old Fisher plow pump on my 300. I mounted it to the Gen bracket and made a mount for a mini Alt on the other side of the motor. works great and fits good. pump is about the same size as the Gen. just had to play around with pulley sizes to get good power stering at idle.
