Farmall 806 with DT436???

Well im lookin at selling one of my tractors and gettin an farmall 806. A friend has an 806 with the DT407 engine out of like a 1256. I was wondering if a DT436 engine out of like the 1466 would fit in the 806 and if so what would need to modified or just anything else i may want to now. If anyone has seen one and has pic's could you email me.
Thanks Austin P

Yes it will fit with a few modifications, I will try to get you pictures of one with a 466 in it later if I remember.

easiest swap is the 407, if the 806 was a diesel.
361 and 407 engines are getting spendy from what i hear.
Lots of people have done the newer engine swaps. It's doable but it depends how much time you want to put into it.

hope someone with good instructions pipes in.

If you use a 66 series front engine plate, rear engine plate, and frame rails, the whole assembly will bolt right up to the 806's bell housing.

You'll need spacers to bolt the front bolster back in place because the 66 series frame rails are spaced farther apart.

This may make the tractor longer, so the hood and hydraulic lines may not fit.

You'll also have the challenge of getting the throttle and radiator hoses connected and functioning properly.

My friend finally posted pictures of his 806 with 436 in progress of being built into a puller http://www.nnalert.com/smf/index.php/topic,19.0.html

Yeah, that's an 806 rear end with a DT466 bolted to it, but that's not exactly what the OP was looking for. Those are completly custom-fabricated frame rails, and it appears that the tractor won't even have a front bolster per se.

The OP wants to put a 400-series IH engine in an 806 and use it as a farm tractor.

Well he loves to fabricate, and it will be strictly a pulling tractor. I hope to get him to take more pictures as he goes along. And a video of the first crank, the engine, isn't exactly stock.
