I was wondering if some of use could recamend the names of some insurance companys who insure antique tractors. Also,do the tractors have to be restored? I thank you for your help.

I also use JC Taylor. They just require that the tractors are complete and somewhat restored and kept inside a secure location when not being shown or used. You put the value on the tractor and pay accordingly. I think they are very reasonable.

Divide the value of the tractor by the cost per year of insurance.

Still look like a good deal to you guys ???

(Liability insurance is another matter.)

JC Taylor won't insure you if you use the tractor for pulling or hauling. You can't use it as a tractor at all. You can put it in a parade, but only by itself.

That's why I didn't go with them. I haven't found insurance that I need. But I stopped looking till I finish the restoration and am ready to use it.

At J C Taylor it depends on who you talk to. Some there think "pulling" means you can't pull a trailer in a parade or anything, while some interpertate it as you can't do "pulling" in a contest but can "pull" something in a parade or such. I don't know if either way has actually been tested by them in an actual claim.

Lots depends on where you live. My home owners coverage covers my tractors. Truck and trailer ins covers them when hauled on public hwys. Now in sue happy places the coverage can be more of a problem. There is not a big deal about a farm tractors age as many old ones are used everyday. What do you think your tractor is worth as there again not any set prices and condition of the tractor can determine valu to you only as owner. You realy dont know what it is worth until you sell it not what someone would put a valu on it.

She told me "No pulling, hauling, towing, or working of any kind."

No interpretation needed.

I have them on my farm policy, but I think I am going to drop them. With what I pay in premiums I could buy all three new in about ten years!

i don't farm so my antique tractors are not covered on my homeowners policy like a farm policy, but i have a seperate policy with state farm on each tractor, it's the same as for an antique car. around 40 dollars every 6 mo. for full coverage. it may be higher than others?

I don't farm, just bushhog and plow snow, but homeowner's covers my tractor. Key requirement is that it never leave the property--because it is only covered on the premises. If it leaves, it becomes a motor vehicle and is excluded. Fortunately, it hasn't left since new in 1966. (140)

Yes, mine is higher than that but not a ton. I am not exactlly sure how my policy works. I have the tractors listed separatly so it adds like $100/tractor more. (This is where I figure I could replace them in about ten years)
I think they are covered no matter what if the barn burns or I do something stupid to somebody, but if they are on fire by themselves it is my problem. My auto policy covers them when on my trailer. They are covered in enough other places that I will take my chances. It also costs me more than it worth bc they are not restored. If I had a restored tractor it would be a different story.
