400 all-fuel

Niel,

Numbers are not broken out as distillate was an option, not a seperate model. A few, but not many distillate 400's (and 450's) were sold in the US. Most were sold for export. I remember our dealership only selling one F450 disitllate.

That information probaly exists somewhere in Wisconsin Historical Society files. I know the fuels types are broken out in Louisville works records but have not seen them for Farmall works. To give some idea of the 100s ptoduced from 11-1-55 thre 10-31-56 7930 were gasoline, 237 distillate and 43 kerosene.

Try the Wis. State Historical Society. They looked up the numbers for me a few years back on the SH. Sadly I didn"t write the info. down and now I have to ask again. It was in the low hundreds for the SH distillate so I would bet it was same or less for the 400. As someone else said and what agrees with what the archives told me; most went to Europe.

Neil- It's neat to hear I'm not one of the only guys with such a rare Farmall. I also have a Farmall 400 All-Fuel. My SN is 7644 or 7544 I believe but I'd have to double check. I know the casting #'s on the rear half are from Nov 1954 to the front half casting #'s dating up to Feb 1955. I've had several so called "experts" at tractor shows the past couple of years trying to argue with me that my tractor isnt an all-fuel and that they were'nt made on newer falmalls like the 400. It's fun to prove to them that it is when I show them how the Right side hood panel has a factory hole for the small starting gas tank in it. My tractor still has the origional manifold as well. I just wish I could find a shutter system to fit the radiator like it origionally had. The tractor does not like to run very well in these chilly Iowa winters like this one without the shutters.

This tractor has a serial #3672S,TA,no power sterring casting # on front end 1954 model. It does have small fuel tank, sheet metal almost perfect, and runs great, nice tractor.
