i have a gas ih706 that wont fire, turns over has spark, gas to carb, did notice seems like plugs are wet on 1 3 5 but not on 2 4 6, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Look at the distributor cap first. Make sure the contacts inside are clean and no moisture is present. Check the rotor and make sure it is clean as well. You cant get fire to the plugs if tese items are corroded. Wires could be wet as well if exposed to moisture...take them inside and dry them?? Hairdryer may work.

On the rear of the Carb there is a soloneid that when the power is cut to it, it plugs the main jet in the Carb. When you turn the key it retracts and allows fuel to flow. (It is suppose to keep the tractor from decelling when you shut it off) The way I checked mine was to shut off fuel, take the solenoid off, ensure the wire is plugged into it and then turn the key on. Once you turn the key on go back and ground the solenoid and it should retract. If it doesn't it could be your problem, if not you know its good. Good Luck

Hold your hand over the throat of the carburetor
while someone makes an attempt to start the engine. If there's not much suction on your hand you have a vacuum leak somewhere on the intake manifold or your compression is low. You need good manifold vacuum to suck that atomized gas into the engine. Hal
