If you were looking for a bolt up modification then I'd shoot for either the Continental diesel that was used in the 350's or the inline six (which would require lengthening the tractor) from a 460. Now if I could use any engine I'd probably stick a Perkins 3 banger in there. Similar to a Massey 35. Sam

I'd stick with something you can get parts for easy, and that leaves several older diesels out (like Hercules and Continental). Perkins is a great engine. So is a 3.9 Cummins. What so the diesel Farmal Hs have in Eurpope? There are factory built diesel Hs overseas, but don't recall the engine used.

Did you ever see the Massery Ferguson with the GM 6.2 V8 disel in it?

there is a 4 cyl glow plug diesel used in the 504. i think 188 cu in.
also a 4 cyl german diesel was used in the 544...

both would probably have similar bolt up to an H if your donor tractor was a farmall model.

i'm also curious what they did in Europe!
I like the C diesel variation from there.

The 504 is a D-188, 50 hp. The Perkins 4.108 is 30 hp @ 2800 rpm and 51 hp @ 4000 rpm. 51 hp is "intermittent duty" rated as 30 min @ 4000 followed by 1 hr @ 2800. I have one in a LTV Aerospace Kid amphibious 8 wheeler. With that rpm range, it would make a hell of a pulling engine 8) . I want pics if you go forward with this one.
