12 volt battteries for 1466

Hello,
I was thinking about replacing the 6volt suitcase batteries on my 1466 with two 12 volt regular truck batteries. The 6 volts only seem to last around 3 years at best. Seems like I have better luck with the 12volt ones. Anyone tried this before.

i have had my 1466 for thirtyone years. i have never had a battery last less than seven years. i used to buy 4eh but the last ones were 3eh. i have always had good luck with tractor supply co. batteries.

Our 10s and 15 ate up Deka batteries like candy, so we spent the money on Interstates. We got a set of Dekas one day, instead of waiting on the Interstates, they were 12V's instead of 6Vs, and they lasted as long as the Interstate 6V batteries.

Were they the long thin 12 volts or the regular car battery shaped ones? Thanks

They were the 3E sized batteries. 3EE or 3EH, the 12 volt version of the stock sixes. Yes, the long narrow ones.
