What is the bulb # that go into the headlights on a farmall with D and B on the switch and how many wires go to the lights. Your help would be great.

If it's the Guide light, teardrop, there will be only one wire to the housing. Ground is achieved thorugh the base of the bulb back through teh housing.

6v bulb is 1133. 12v is 1073.

12 volt.the switch says O which is off..then D and then B and it has a back light and 2 front lights. From what I understand there should be a dim on the front headlights..Does it take a double filament bulb?? Bare with me Gents these Farmals are all new to me...I sure lik'em though..

We're kind of shooting in the dark here. If they are the teardrop style, with one wire going to each light, the bulb numbers are in my post above.

If, however, you have the sealed beams (a much flatter appearance than the teardrops, and the bulb is also the lens) then it's a whole different story. There are two wires to each and, as in the teardrop style, there are two different bulbs (6v and 12v).

In either case, they are a single filament bulb. Bright is obtained by allowing the full system voltage to flow to the bulb. Dim is accomplished by switching a resistor (part of the switch assembly) into the circuit. The dimming resistor only affects the headlights. The rear light gets full voltage any time it is switched on.

No, 12 volt is 1143.

The dim lite on the dim position goes thru the resistor on the back of the sw if its still there and someone hasnt changed the wires after all the years. So you only have one wire going to the lites better check ground at the lite. A meter on OHMS will be handy to check that out.

They are tear drop lights. The bulbs that are in there are # 1143 with one wire going to each light...Right now it operates as follows..O is off D only rear light is on...B all lights are on.they are all single fillament bulbs..

Sounds like the resistor is missing or bad on the back of the switch. What that would give you in D is straight current to the rear lights and nothing to the headlights and on B straight current to all three. What you're missing is reduced current to the headlights on D, and a bad or missing resistor is more likely than the old warhorse switch being bad.

If you have a need for dim headlights, tmtractorparts.com sells replacement, original style resistors.

Right you are.

I've got a note in my books on the 6v, but I zigged when I shoulda zagged on lookin' up the 12v.
