MD diesel charge pressure

are you talking about the pressure from the lift pump? if so 35-40lbs is running range according to the manual. My super will do more then that so i think that is a min pressure they give.

35 to 40 for the main oil pump maybe, but unless I'm reading it wrong the "lift" pump (primary pump in IH lingo) is 58 to 65 per book spec (PU27). I'd like to see a copy of that manual page? They will operate reasonably down to the 35 level and many seem to be at that pressure these days. FYI, main oil pressure is 38 to 46 psi for the diesels.

I have two manuals, one I cannot find a number on shows 35 to 40 psi, other manual ISS-1012-R shows 58 to 66 psi above 700 rpm. Original gauges on pumps did not indicate psi, they had a normal range and a low pressure range. Red and white sections. Some pumps did not have a gauge on them and you had to T into plunger feed pressure line.

Yup, pretty familiar with the things. I have more than one pump than runs on the shy side of 40 lb is why I ask. It doesn't match the books, but they run okay. I kinda thought it was spring fatigue reducing the pressure but it seems odd that the output pressure is that low when I have others just as old that run at the high pressure. IH not numbering their gauges doesn't help to clear up the issue.

Cool. I'm searching for one of those now. My 1003V book covers up through C pumps, but only gives the common setup for the two primary pressure adjustments, along with the converse for the B.

And I presume this is an IH pump and not the early Bosch... lol
