I am working on restoring a 1951 Farmall "M" tractor. I replaced the spark plugs and wires. The points and Dist. Cap looked very good. I had the Carburetor rebuilt by Denny's and it made a tremendous difference in how the tractor runs, but it still idles a little rough. I have tried adjusting the carb but just can't seem to get it to idle Slow and smooth. It just sounds a little rough, but as soon as I speed up the throttle a little, it smooths right out. It runs great at higher RPM's. I live at about 5500 ft. elevation, do I need to look at different jets? Can you give me any suggestions? Thanks for any responses!

Are the rocker arms set to spec? How about timing?? Are the intake gaskets in good shape--not leaking--carb to manifold gasket o.k.?? Points & cond in good shape--points gapped correctly?? Spark plugs/ wires o.k.??

In addition to Brownie's suggestions use a timing light to check operation of the centrifugal advance.

If it's working timing will advance from 0 deg at slow idle to about 35 deg BTC at governed RPM.

You won't need to change carb jets to run at 5,500 ft.

From persoanl experience DENYS SUCKS it could be likely that your carb still has some kind of a cloged passage somewhere. Other then that make sure you have good fuel flow to the carb (easyist)

Check the intake for cracks check the gasket chec to amke sure the carb is on tight thats about all i can think of

Check the timing like previously mentioned
