What wuld be the best all around 70-100 hp IH tractor 2 buy?

Was just wondering which 70-100hp IH tractor spanning from the 06 series to the 86 series Is the most reliable and user friendly when It comes to doing the farm tasks such as working land, harvesting crops, and operating a front end loader?

If you want to do tillage go with an 986 as they are the only series avaliable with a decent cab. I would hate to do much tillage in the HP range you listed though. Most reliable would be an 806 with 56 style shift linkage or an 856. Best loader tractor would be a Hydro, but they are a poor tillage tractor and have reliability problems compared to the others. If I only had one to chose from it would be the 856.

4020 powershift

I second the 4020 powershift as a great tractor. I grew up on a 8 speed 3020, and its nice. But not as nice as the powershift. Personally I want a 656 or a 706 for my next project. Within a year or so I should be done with the 504.

The 806/856 IH has more raw power than a 4020, but the 4020 is nicer to operate. Shifting, steering, brakes, ect. I still will take a red one over a green one. Cheaper to maintain.

I have an 806 with a 56 shifter, totally enjoy the tractor. I"ve put a backhoe on it and dug my septic, I plow, disc & plant with it, move snow in the winter with it. It has the early cab which isn"t all that great, put it sure beats the cold wind when its -20 outside.
