Will a distributor from a 404 work on Farmall 300

Can I use a distributor from a 404 on a Farmall 300 without any changes? I had an o symbol distributor on the 300 and I know the 404 is an AH coded distributor are the degrees the same?
Thank you!

The 300 (O dist) max advance 22 at max idle of 1925 rpm. The 404 (AH dist) max advance is 20 at max idle of 2300 rpm. Two degrees isn't very much but you'll have to decide whether it is close enough to suit you. You could give it a couple degrees of advance at low idele. That may make it harder to turn over when starting.

If you put tractor on dyno you might see a slight HP loss, in every day driving you will never notice difference.

The IH manuals says the the engine should be timed at high idle so the timing is correct at full advance. That way any discrepancy in total advance will occur at low idle rather than at full load.

The IH manual in front of me right now says to set the timing at 0 rpm. It also has instructions for setting/checking at low idle (375 rpm) and high idle. It makes a BIG POINT that if you set timing at high idle, to recheck it at 375 and make sure there is NO ADVANCE at that speed.
