Best spark plugs

What would you all recommend for spark plugs in a rebuilt c123 in my super A. I hear a lot about autolites but was not sure of the number.

Autolite 3116's if you have a magneto, with battery ignition 386's or 387's are good too.

3116s are what Autolite recomends for the letter series IHs with today's gasoline. They recomend 386s for the 6 cylinder engines. This was straight from their tech. service dept.

Far as I know the cooler 386 is fine for a tractor that gets used and worked hard for long periods and the temperaute is kept up, while if its for light duty and parade use the hotter 388 may be better to reduce premature fouling......HOWEVER those are resistor plugs while the 3116 (heat range similar to 386 and 388) is a NON resistor. Thats not so critical in coil distributor ignitions then in a magneto ignition where Id prefer wire core non resistive wires and non resistor plugs.

This topic comes up routinely on this forum with the same answers. Which is not bad. Everyone has there opinion.
I am going to throw my 2 sense in again because the topic title is right on for anyone having the forethought to use the archives.
For the past 20 years+ the only spark plug I have used in all of my IH 300U's, John Deere A's, Farmall H's, SA and Cub, Allis Chalmers B, is the AC DELCO C87. They burn clean and I never have problems with fouled plugs or bad plugs. They run till they're wore out.
I had nothing but trouble with Champion plugs and haven't bought one in decades and never will.
I have never used Autolite.
I don't give a flip about reports and theories, the AC DELCO C87 is the plug that works for me.
Best of luck,
Dell

My Dad was an auto mechanic and he used Champion and so, following his lead I also use them. We use them in cars trucks, lawnmowers, snowblowers,Farmall Regulars,F-20's,letter series and number series and no problems.
You will probably just have to experiment and see what works best for you.

Have used Champion, Autolite, AC and several private brand plugs and if carb was set right, tractor was not using excessive oil and heat range was right for application all of them worked just fine.

I have always used Champions in all of my older tractors and never had a problem with them . I have had some problems with autolites in the past . I worked at a ford tractor dealer for many years and used auotlites in the fords, with alot of trouble, they would break around the ceramic when got hot. Good luck , Ken
