M battery cable

Just got a 51M which has no battery cables .need to know many inches long of a cable from switch to starter Thanks Tom

I don't have the length for you. But IH wants $100 for one for my 400. Farm and Fleet had The ends for $2.50 for a package of two, and the double 0 cable in bulk for $2.49 a foot. My 400 has the battery under the seat and the old cable is 78" if I remember correctly. I know I thought 13 ft would make 2 cables.

Use a tape measure.

Look for some used welding cables and make your own using soldered ends. Get them long enough so you can stretch them out from the battery to to the starter. Don't make it any longer than necessary. Do the same for the ground cable.

I used some used welding cable. I got it for free from a welding shop, as it was no good for their purposes any more. Works great as a battery cable. 1/0 size as well, so plenty of juice for 6v or 12v.
