Farmall super m serial number question

Serial number on my farmall super m is L-502990 J

Can anyone tell me what year this is and if the J is a prefix for something. Thanks,

Lyle - Yours is an early 1953.

The L prefix says your SM was assembled in Louisville. The J suffix indicates a Rockford clutch.

Looks like a 53 in guy fays book. Is the suffix X1J or just J? X1J is Gasoline, seven mph high speed gears, 5000 foot altitude. But that is if it is x1j

Thanks guys. The guy rebuilding the head says it is a high compression head. Tractor is getting a new clutch and complete engine rebuild that might turn in to a complete restoration. I was wondering if anyoine could post pics of the hydraulic hoses coming out of the belly pump and what kind of couplers would have been on the end. Would the hoses go over top or underneath of the belt pulley? Also what are the plug on the left hand side opposite the hoses. Thanks,
