My Farmall H Tires

Hey guys,

I just bought my first tractor about a month ago (1952 Farmall H) and I had one important question. The previous owner put brand new rear tires on it after the originals were to far gone to use, size 12.4/38. I am wondering, since these are such nice tires and I would hate to have to replace them, could I get away with not doing so? I do want the tractor for use, but also want to drive it in a couple parades. Please tell me what you think!
thanks, Cole

Do you share?

tires are expensive and sometimes it is hard to come by good ones on old tractors , but thats what they are there for -- to use and when them wear out you get a new set

Hello Cole,

The date code on the tires that are on this little Case tractor shows that they were made in 1958. I bought the tires on this truck in 1995.

Use your tractor! Don't puncher the tires store the equipment out of the weather and sun. Tires used and not abused can last for longer than you may think especially if all your planning to do with the tractor is show it!

Cole:
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on getting an H. They are fun tractors.
As for your tire question, I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Could you rephrase your question?

There were likely more 11-38's (new designation 12.4-38) sold on H tractors than any other size -- what are you asking?

Hi Cole, welcome to the forum. I'm an H owner as well.

I have 12.4x38's on my H. They fit and look great.

If you take care of those tires, they will last until your children get it.

Thanks Mike and all who replied, its nice having other people with similar intrests to talk to about them. I am posting a picture of the tractor along with the tires too. feel free to let me know what you think.

Thanks again!

Cole, I'm not sure what your question is. Those tires are in fantastic shape, and will last for years! Especially if you only use it for light duty, parades, etc. I wish mine looked that good!

Your H looks great, and needs very little in parts. It should be an "easy" restoration, where you could get the small number of parts you may need (I see the right light is missing, and the cover from the rear light is gone.) Tear it down, take care of any mechanical issues you may have, like bearings and gaskets, and paint it up.

Good luck, and keep us posted with progress!
