Increasing wheel tread spacing

I am growing some veggies on a raised bed system. My tractors tires are set at 60" centers. I am looking for a farmall cub that can fit this spacing, but most cubs tires seem to be at a tighter spacing. Are there cubs with a wider wheel base or is it easy to increase the width of an existing tractor?

IIRC, rear tread on a Cub runs from 40"-56", all according to how the wheels are dished and the rims turned and mounted to the wheel.

There were two front axles. With the adjustable front axle, you can get the same width on the front. If the front axle is the non-adjustable, you can't get it that wide.

The rear wheels can go wider than 56" by using spacers. They are probably in the Cub parts book but I don't have one. Seems to me I have seen the spacers on eBay. They add five or six inches per side.

As for the front, I am not sure. I suppose IH had optional parts for that as well. If I needed this stuff, I would go to caseih.com and see what was engineered snd available when Cubs were produced.

At any rate, if I needed a wide Cub, I would make the parts. Not too difficult with a welder, drill press, and a lathe. If that suggestion is unappealing, see if your local Voke school will made some of the parts. When it's all done, take the Cub over there so the kids can see what they built.

Neighbor had a cub with spacers. He broke the housing on one of the finals with a spray tank on the back. He replaced the housing then put a piece of tube bolted between the 2 finals.

Here is a link to pics of an original set of spacers. You cannot buy them but it is a good reference. Sounds like you can either use them to widen the rearend or put duals on it.

I have some 6" round bar if you need it but it won't be cheap. Better off to make a welded part.

On a light tractor like that you can dish the front wheels out and put 1-2 inch or so sections of pipe between the rear rims and the wheels. We had a B and later a Ford 8N that way. No problems.
