Super A Sidedresser Photo II

Smith,
I started a new post so not to have to open all the photos.
I downloaded all the photos to my pc.

I used to sidedress about 30 acres of sweet corn with a two row setup on a JD A for about 10 years. I always sidedressed fertilizer after the corn was about a foot tall. I never put out seeds and ferilizer together unless it was with the 494 planter. That’s what threw me with your photos. I was thinking a hopper of fertilizer for each side of the row.

As far as cleaning goes, I used to wash them good with hose and water then dry and cover with crankcase oil and store in plastic bags and pails until next season.

I know most photos are of one row cultivators for A-140’s but I seem to remember seeing a two row setup for an A for sale somewhere. Is there a two row cultivator for an SA.

Thanks for the photos, now I know what I am looking for.

I have only saw one picture of a rear mounted 2 row cultivator for a Super A. Not sure if it was homemade or factory. It may have been for only narrow row crops.
I have seen the 2 hopper side dresser setup before, but always assumed it was for side dressing both sides of 1 row of corn. But I could be wrong, since I have never used one.
Sorry I could not be more help.
Maybe Gene Bender will reply, he has a lot of knowldge about these little tractors, as do a lot of others on this site.

In all the manuals I have it only talks about the 101 fertilize unit being used and it is used with the 144 Cultivator.

You can use a stream divider and also mount an additional fertilize hopper on the left hand side of the tractor but this was done to fertilize both sides of one row.

I use mine with a 185 Blackland unit.

I wonder if you might use the 144 cultivator arms and fertilize two rows?
