Anyone have a suggestion for a easily obtainable material that I could cut a small gasket out of for a sediment bowl? It's the gasket that the glass bowl rests on. I got one that just went all to pieces and I hate to wait a week for a mail order replacement. Just needs to make a seal and be gas proof.

That is why I keep a few one hand all the time. My local O'reilly"s has them and when I need one I just go and buy all they have on hand at the time so I will have a few around

thats right, but there getting expensive for that little gskt.used to be a quarter or fifty cents, now about three bucks.

I'd be leery of trying to cut one out of a patch of old lightweight innertube or the like.

You gan get gasket materil at about any good auto parts. I'm blessed (unlike some other folks) to have two really good NAPAs and a CarQuest, all with really good people on the counter. If you've got a store like that around, ask them for a gas-tolerant material.

BUT, as long as you're there (bowl-in-hand), a little quick research discloses that there's a good chance (at least at NAPA), they will have or can get real quick, the exact gasket you need.

If the link doesn't work, go to napaonline.com, then Catalog Search at the top and search on "fuel bowl" They've got four pages of bowls, gaskets, screens, bails, complete units . . . Is FPG12473 what you're looking for?

We used to cut thermostat gaskets out of the Sears and Roebuck catalog covers. Should work temporarily at least for the sediment bowl gasket, although something a bit thicker would be better. That gasket should also be available at just about any farm machinery dealer.

Thanks all! As it turns out, I found a complete new sediment bowl assembly in one of my parts drawers and poached the gasket out of it. Of course now I have to replace that one or I'll be ticked at myself when I need that part.
