I was wondering how many different heads there was for the 400 series IH tractors. I know of 3, non turbo , turbo , and turbo with intercooler , there is a different part number and behind the intake manifold there is a different casting. Thanks Doyle

Unless you are speaking of a different 400 series tractor than I am. (possible) there were three stock heads (with some part number differences, but basically identical in each. The gasoline head, the LPG head, and a diesel head (gas start diesel run engine)
There were no turbos on 400s from the factory. JimN

Jim,

I believe this thread is about tractors that used the 400 series diesel engine with displacements of 436, 466, and others.

Yeah, it's bit confusing and the original post wasn't worded properly. It is also confusing that IH built 300 and 400 series engines that were produced after the 300 and 400 series tractors. There is no connection between the two product lines.
