Super A sidedresser drive gear removal

Does anyone have any experience removing the sidedresser drive gear from the final drive unit on a Super A.
It looks to me like it is above the fluid level of the final drive but wondering if it is in the gear lube section. I don't want to lose all my gear lube. Also if I have to drain transmission lube first.
A fellow wants to buy the complete sidedresser unit from the SA and I will probably never use it, just wondering what it is a fair price to put on it.
Thanks,
Dell

The drive gear mounts on a shaft that is attached to the tractor, take out a bolt that attaches the gear to the shaft, gear comes off, shaft stays on tractor. the driving shaft should be on all those tractors, at least all I have seen.
Should be able to see bolt if you look between the gear and the housing, should be like a 5/16" or 3/8" bolt.

Del, remove the gear from the shaft, should be one bolt or pin. A 7/8" headed 5/8" fine thread bolt holds the driving sleeve to the axle, remove it and the driving sleeve. 4 bolts - 3/8" course thread hold the seal retainer to the final drive housing, remove them and thus the retainer. There may be some oil there but it won't be much. You now have all the parts to give to the buyer. You will now need a spacer to replace the job that the sleeve was doing holding bearings in place and a cover to replace the seal retainer. If the buyer's tractor has no drive, it would be handy if he would provide you with his parts to replace yours. If not, don't be concerned, they are plentiful.
