distilate fuel plumbing

I have obtained a 1945 A. it is suposed to be a distilate tractor. It has 4 holes in the hood. I did not get the aux fuel tank with it and i am unsure how it is to be plumbed as it was disabmbled when i obtained it. if any one could post some pics. of one that is complete i would appriciate it. I need to know what all im missing.

Go to caseih.com and use their online "search for parts" to find the view of the fuel system for your tractor. The only plumbing relative to the distillate is a fuel line running from the tank to the sediment bowl assembly. The sediment bowl has to be the version with an additional inlet for this line.

Thank you so very much for the reply! I will check that out. That certainly makes sense to me now. that means all im missing is the tank and that one line to the sed. bowl. Im trying to decide weather to search for the parts to restore it or just convert it over to straight gas and be done with it, as i need an intake as well. Any advise is welcome.

Do you have all of the other stuff related to distillate like the radiator shutters, hot box manifold, manifold heat shield, dist. cylinder head, carb etc...??

simply, no. i have a dist intake that has serious damage/repairs. a carb that is rusted solid, and a cyl. head. and a 4 hole hood. none of the other stuff you mention. im guessing it would cost more than it would be worth to obtain all that would be nec. to make it original. your thoughts?

I would agree. Plus, if you don't have any of the other attachments it probably has been run on gas for a long time.

mr. mayor, thank you! i am new to this. so since i am going to overhaul the engine, do u think i should overhaul it back to gas spec's? do you know what the difference in a gas cyl. head and a dist. head? maybe if they r different someone would be looking for what i have? or don't worry with it and carry on? thanks so very much for the reply!

I am most familiar with the H setup for distillate. I took a look at the parts list for the A and a separate head # is not shown for distillate for your tractor however there is an "attachment" shown. Not sure what this consists of. The SH I just restored had a completely different head and valves for distillate or kerosene. The head has a different combustion chamber design that yields a different compression ratio. You need to study the parts information at caseih.com.

thank you for the reply and info. i need to obtain the appropriate manuels for it. i espec. thank you for the link info! its at least a start. im just starting all this and i dont know anybody that knows anything about farmalls. they all are into the green ones. thanks again!
