Hi hope i can get some help from all you good people here. just put a rebuilt clutch kit in a 51 super c and cant get the clutch to dis engage everything looks good from inspection hole the shift forks are working agaist pressuer plate good tryed cranking engine over and still wont disengaged and also adjustment rod on clutch pedal is more than 3/4 out to get good pedal? dont know what else to look for????????

If the fingers on the clutch plate are substantially in from where they were, and the clutch adjustment rod needed massive adjustment, I would suggest that the driven disk (friction disk) was put in backwards, the parts can be assembled wrong and if so the drive hub with the springs around it catch on the flywheel and do not release. If this is the problem, you won't be the first to do it. The drive hub is fatter on one side than the other, and must be put on with the hub extending to the rear. Best of luck, JimN

Thanks for info. the drive disk is with the fat part of hub to rear of tractor. i know that do know what else maybe pilot bushing??? or defective pressuer plate??

Burrs on the clutch shaft spline can hang the disk hub rubbing against the FW.
If some (extra) rough motion was needed to get it to mate when putting it together the hub can be bent causing it to drag on both the FW and PP.
Was the TO bearing of the carbon style, or the regular Ball bearing? if Carbon, and worn down it might be not able to push far enough.
There are pivot points and pins in the TO cross shaft that could be causing TO positioning problems.
Were the new and old clutches the same !! There may be dramatic differences between the Rockford and IH clutch. Was the flywheel machined, and was the step in the FW set to factory spec? THis is the best I have. JimN
